Albumin indication requirements coming soon

New “click” will improve inpatient albumin use

Starting Nov. 1, the indication selections pre-built into Epic will be required when ordering albumin for inpatients. 

This additional click in the ordering process will be used to evaluate the most frequent indications for albumin use at Salem Health. The information will help develop guidelines or protocols to improve inpatient albumin use. A view of the current indications for Epic albumin orders are shown here:





If none of the indication options listed match what the order is intended for, the “Free Text” space may be used. For data collection purposes, it would be greatly appreciated if the “Free Text” space was not used as a way to bypass selecting an indication by entering a space or single character in that area.
