West Valley Hospital sponsors fun run and walk

West Valley Hospital is sponsoring the Dallas Summerfest Fun Run, Saturday, July 28, with 5K and 10K races, a 5K walk, and a half-mile run for kids of all ages.

“West Valley Hospital will have a team and we encourage the community to come out and join us,” says Elisa Bledsoe, part of West Valley Hospital’s Community Outreach Team. “It is an easy way to improve your health and well-being and have a lot of fun at the same time.”

The fun runs take place on a mostly flat route so that anyone can tackle their first 5K or 10K race. The 5K circles around downtown Dallas, with the 10K touring City Park as well.  The half-mile kids run starts on the corner of Washington and Jefferson Streets, then follows the parade route. All races finish in front of a crowd of cheering parade goers at the courthouse!

Race day registration will be available from 7 to 8 a.m. at Dallas Radio Shack (988 SE Jefferson), however online registration through Eclectic Edge Racing is strongly encouraged. Online registration closes at noon on Thursday, July 26.

The 10K begins at 8 a.m., followed by the 5K run/walk at 8:30 a.m., and the kids’ fun run at 9:05 a.m.  (The parade begins at 11 a.m.) Cost is $25 for the 10K and 5K, and $5 for the kids’ run with proceeds going to the Dallas Booster Club. Technical T-shirts are available for an additional $12.  For more information, contact Sandy Teal at 503-910-9787.
