Sports physicals available for a limited time to 200 student athletes

Salem Health’s Medical Clinics and Community Health Education Center will offer complete sports physical exams for area middle and high school students from Aug. 1 to Aug. 9.

Three doctors are available to perform 200 physical exams at Salem area high schools.

During the exam, doctors can identify old injuries and give advice on how to prevent them from happening again. The exam also addresses conditions like asthma or allergies that could impact performance. Lastly, and most importantly, sports physicals can also help spot rare conditions that could be life-threatening.

The exams will cost $10 and registration is required. Students must bring a parent or guardian to their physical exam appointment along with their school sports pre-participation examination form.

Exam schedule:

  • Aug. 1 (9 a.m. to noon)      McKay High School
  • Aug. 2 (9 a.m. to noon)      South Salem High School
  • Aug. 3 (9 a.m. to noon)      West Salem High School
