Medical expert offers solution for a better night\'s sleep

This Thursday, Aug. 8 at 6:30 p.m., the Community Health Education Center at Salem Hospital will welcome Dr. Nahmjee Lee, a specialist in the care of patients with sleep disordered breathing.

Dr. Lee is one of the few dentists in the United States who specializes exclusively in the care of helping patients get a better night’s sleep.

More than 12 million Americans are estimated to have sleep apnea, a condition characterized by brief interruptions of breathing during sleep.

“Oral appliance therapy is an effective treatment option for mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea,” said Dr. Thye Schuyler, medical director and neurology physician at the Salem Hospital Sleep Disorders Center. “Medical research has repeatedly demonstrated that oral appliances are safe and well tolerated. I routinely offer this therapy for my patients.”

The free community education session will be held in the CHEC Support Group Room at Salem Hospital Campus, Bldg. D, 890 Oak St. SE. Free covered parking is available in the visitor’s garage. Please RSVP by going online at salemhealth.org/chec or phone 503-814-CHEC (2432).
