My colleagues and I on the Salem Health Board of Trustees are deeply saddened by the sudden death of Selma Pierce.
Selma lived a life in service to her community, professionally and as a volunteer, and is an example to us all. Selma's leadership could catalyze action and cooperation in a way that brought tangible comfort to those in pain. That's a rare gift.
More than just a fellow member of the medical community, we have lost a leader and a friend, but take comfort realizing that many lives are better for having known her. Our deepest sympathies are with Bud Pierce and the rest of Selma's family.
