Other orthopedic services

Imaging

Salem Health Orthopedics uses the latest equipment to diagnose orthopedic conditions and assess bone health. Our MRI technologists are certified by the American College of Radiology, as are the radiologists who read and interpret MRI results.

Our on-site imaging department eliminates the need to make a separate appointment or travel to another location for studies. At Salem Health Orthopedics, it’s possible to have your X-rays and see your doctor in the same day.

X-ray

Our digital X-ray equipment delivers outstanding clarity and anatomic detail. Digital technology allows for much faster, more comfortable exams, while producing higher quality images to aid your doctor’s diagnosis. If you’re having an X-ray, you will most likely be asked to change into shorts. You can either bring a pair from home or a disposable pair will be provided for you.

For your convenience, x-rays are offered at both our Salem and Keizer locations.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)

Salem health Orthopedics provides MRI scans to help identify injuries and conditions in your body. An MRI is a harmless, noninvasive test that uses a strong magnetic field and radio frequency waves to produce images of your body. The scans are safe and there is no radiation exposure.

Our GE Explorer MRI machine is less confining and more comfortable than traditional MRI. In fact, our entire MRI suite has been designed to make exams less cause for anxiety.

Additionally, our MRI machine covers a range of productivity enhancing applications including new features to increase patient comfort and reduce scan times. If necessary we are able to apply a metal suppression technique used on MRI-conditional metal implants. This improves visualization of soft tissue and bone surrounding the metal implant.

Please note MRIs require interpretation by a radiologist. Results are available within 24 to 48 hours.
