Salem Hospital only Oregon hospital listed among 125 hospitals nationwide with great orthopedic programs
Becker’s Hospital Review, a leading publication offering business and legal trends and guidance for hospital executives, named Salem Hospital to its list of “125 hospitals and health systems with great orthopedic programs for 2014”—including Mayo Clinic, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and Cleveland Clinic.
The hospitals on this list exhibit excellence in orthopedics, quality of service, outstanding local and national reputations and high volume of orthopedic cases. Salem Hospital’s Joint Replacement Center of Excellence was the only Oregon orthopedic program to make the list.
“It’s a mark of distinction for our Joint Replacement Center of Excellence to be among the nation’s top hospitals for orthopedic care,” said Deni Hoover, director of orthopedics, rehabilitation, and neuroscience services at Salem Health. “Salem Hospital and our orthopedic surgeon partners have put in a great deal of collaborative effort over the past years to provide our patients with an exceptional experience.”
“It is an honor for our program to be recognized nationally for the patient-centered care that we deliver to our orthopedic joint replacement patients,” said Mark Dolan, MD, orthopedic surgeon with Hope Orthopedics of Oregon, and medical director of Salem Hospital’s Joint Replacement Center of Excellence. “It is a tribute to the entire team that provides care to these patients and their expertise and experience that allow them to deliver such wonderful care.”
Jerry McNabb, 72, of Salem, recently received his second hip replacement in ten months at Salem Hospital. “The level of care from the surgeon on down—everybody is on top of their game completely,” said McNabb. “I feel like I’m being taken care of in the best way possible. It’s a seamless process that works exceptionally well.”
In February 2012, Salem Hospital’s Joint Replacement Center of Excellence became the first in Oregon to earn the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™ for certification in total hip and knee replacements. In March of this year, the Joint Commission announced its recertification of Salem Hospital’s joint replacement program. The continuing certification demonstrates a proven commitment to excellence in providing quality care and health care staffing, in order to provide the best joint replacement experience for patients.
