Melanie provides nutrition support to high-needs patients and teaches disease prevention and treatment to inpatients and throughout the community. She earned a Bachelor of Science in nutrition science at Oregon State University in 2009, a dietetic internship at Oregon Health & Science University in 2010 and a Master of Science in clinical nutrition at OHSU in 2014.
Prior to working at Salem Health, Melanie worked as a personal trainer, outpatient dietitian and group exercise instructor in the fitness industry for 10 years. She continues to teach fitness classes for all ages and fitness levels, from SilverSneakers and low-impact aerobics to spinning and boot camps, as well as gentle chair yoga, family yoga and power yoga.
Although Melanie is a culinary school drop-out, one of her passions is adapting recipes to fit therapeutic diets in order for her clients and patients to still enjoy the foods that they love.
