Lean Gemba site visits at Salem Health

The Lean system at Salem Health combines strategy deployment and Lean fundamentals such as Visual Management, Huddles, 5S, Quick & Easy Kaizen and Standard Work. ntcu 3

Guests at the Salem Health one-day Gemba tour will see the organization’s visibility room, learn about how staff and leaders are trained and developed in the Lean system, and discuss the Kaizen Promotion Office structure. Department Gemba tours will focus on how Lean fundamentals are deployed at the local level and how they promote alignment with organizational strategies.

Visit objectives

  • Describe how the Lean management system is implemented at Salem Health.
  • Identify Lean management system infrastructure at Salem Health, such as Kaizen Promotion Office structure, training and development, and metrics tracking.
  • Explain how Lean and strategy are deployed at all levels of the organization from the Board of Trustees to the front-line staff.

Cancellation policy

We will honor cancellations with a full refund up to 30 days before the event. We will also determine if we will proceed with the event at 30 days before and will cancel if we do not have enough participants to hold the site visit as scheduled.


Transportation and lodging information

If you're coming from outside our region, we recommend flying into Portland International Airport and renting a car to drive to Salem. Depending on traffic, this drive will take around 1 hour and 20 minutes.

Lodging recommendation

The Grand Hotel 201 Liberty Street SE, Salem, Oregon 97301 This hotel is within reasonable walking distance or easy driving distance from the hospital campus and central to downtown restaurants and entertainment.
